It sounds like I have a fuzz pedal in front of it. While I know the neck pup on the Strat is darker than the bridge, it's way over the top just a crappy tone when recorded. I've also tried recording my Gibson SG w/P90's, Ibanez RG470 and Fender Strat (HSS). When I run the Brit 2204 preamp model and feed that to the effects return of my amp, it sounds like I would expect it to - similar to your recording. I have the Dragon II pickups in my PRS, however, they are not dark pickups. As you said yours does sound better, cleaner.

Nothing added from the sound library or and EQ, compression, thanks for testing out the preset. My receiver is not coloring the sound to that extent as all other music, videos, etc., sound great.

My setup is Helix -> USB Cable -> USB Input on Mac -> Garageband -> Headphone Out of Mac -> 1/8' Stereo to RCA cable -> Aux Input on Kenwood receiver -> Bose AM5 Speakers I don’t know why it would feedback as the input is the Helix and not a microphone. I disable feedback protection as it constantly kicks in and interrupts the audio, however, when I watch the monitor strength it barely gets above yellow and only on occasion. I don’t have a separate DAW – Garageband is my DAW and I do monitor the sound from my stereo receiver while I’m playing. Here's a brief recording and the this test I just loaded the Brit 2204 Amp + Cab - nothing else, no tweaking, etc. I've had this long enough and heard enough other Helix's that I know this is not normal. I'm stumped because I see all these guys on YouTube making these awesome sounding presets and mine sounds like I have a blanket covering my speakers. Tomorrow I'm going to try recording to my laptop but I need to set it up first. Running Garage Band (I tested Audacity too and had the same muffled result) Preset is only the stock Brit 2204 amp + cab model

Here's my signal chain for the 2204 preset: There's definitely something going on with either the way I have this setup or with the Helix itself. When I play it through my amp it sounds great.

I started with a new preset and followed a guy on YouTube, step by step, in a very simple 2204 patch and his sounded clear and crisp and mine sounds muffled. However, I'm still having an issue with my tone in that it sounds muffled when I record. But that was my not understanding the differences between amp speakers and FRFR. I even deleted it for a while just in case, but nothing changed.Got my Helix LT a few months ago and when I first tried recording I had issues with live sound vs recorded. It just claims my system is “configured to 0 audio channels” (which it isn’t) and refuses to let me use it. Now after resetting factory settings, the AudioWizard doesn’t even seem to work, so I doubt it’s the source of my issue either. I remember the AudioWizard having a very bass’y setting on by default when I first got my computer, but I disabled it right away. The third and final factor I have is something called ROG AudioWizard which is always installed by default on my computer. Then I opened the Realtek HD Audio Manager, but once again all of the possible enhancements were already turned off. I looked at the properties of my speakers, but no enhancements were active. I first looked in the Sound section in the controller panel. I’ve looked at some older topics about WASAPI, and they mentioned that the operating system might have audio enhancements enabled that might mess with the recording, so naturally I suspected that this would be the case for me too.

Software playthrough is off, so it’s not that either.

It’s not an issue with the software I’m playing the audio on I’ve tried recording from Firefox, Opera and VLC Media Player, all with the same results. Said bass is not present in the source audio I’m recording from when I listen to it normally, only the recording suffers from it. When I try to record audio, the recording seems to have too much bass in it. Of course I didn’t expect it to work right out of the box, but I can’t seem to get it working correctly now by my own. Recently I had to restore my computer’s factory settings, so naturally I’ve had to re-download Audacity again. I’ve dabbled with WASAPI recording for about two years now and I had it working perfectly previously.

I’ve set the audio host to the titular Windows WASAPI, and the speakers (Realtek HD Audio) serve as the playback and recording devices (recording with 2 channels).
